Our Client is currently recruiting a Senior Medical Technician.
The Senior Medical Technician also known as a clinical laboratory technician or medical laboratory assistant, is a skilled individual trained to help performing laboratory tests and operate laboratory equipment under the supervision of the Medical Laboratory Scientist and help assisting the Medical Laboratory Scientists in processes which lead to performing tests and generating results for use in diagnosis, treatment and/or monitoring treatment of diseases.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Guide to prepare the laboratory equipment and specimens for tests
- Guidance for collection of patient’s body fluids for lab test and analysis
- Help in analyzing and record test results in order to issue reports that utilize graphs, charts and narratives
- Helps in performing blood counts and blood tests for transfusion purposes
- Assist medical laboratory technologists in less complex laboratory tests and procedures
- Guide to ensure samples (blood and tissue) are promptly transferred to the laboratory and where necessary, process specimens, perform stains utilizing standard operating procedures, protocols and technical knowledge.
- Guidance for following safety practices including biohazards, waste segregation and disposal, exposure control plan (blood-borne pathogens), infection control to include universal precautions, employee right to know (hazardous chemicals), and chemical hygiene standard.
- Assist with orientation and teaching new employees the services offered in the laboratory.
- Perform any other duties related to the laboratory as assigned.
